Our client is a National Infrastructure Contractor that has developed a reputation for quality of delivery on it’s projects and frameworks across the UK.
They support clients in safeguarding water supplies, improving environmental performance, and managing demand for future generations.
Due to a combination of succession planning and business growth, they would now like to appoint a Chief Estimator for their water Division.
The role will lead the estimating function within the Water Division. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will oversee a high-performing team, ensuring the competence, capacity, and compliance of a world-class estimating department.
The Chief Estimator is responsible for driving quality and timely delivery in alignment with corporate governance, supporting strategic bids, and promoting cross-functional collaboration.
This role may suit an Estimating Manager looking to move into a more senior role.
The successful candidate could come from a similar role but must be within Infrastructure Contracting (Water, Gas, Power, Rail).
The Role
Leadership & Development: Leading the estimating function for the Water function, overseeing resource allocation, reporting, and talent development.
Strategic Bidding: Supporting major strategic bids and ensuring all pricing is robust, competitive, and aligned with the business plan.
Governance & Risk: Ensuring strict adherence to business management systems and governance procedures, while championing robust risk management practices.
Client Relations: Building strong, professional relationships with clients to support business planning and ensure long-term customer satisfaction.
Safety & Culture: Championing health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental standards while fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.
Continuous Improvement: Driving innovation and efficiency within the estimating process to exceed client expectations.
The Person
Technical Expertise: A deep knowledge of estimating tools, techniques, and best practices, specifically within the utilities or infrastructure sectors.
Commercial Acumen: The ability to assess complex bids, manage financial risk, and ensure accurate cost analysis.
Management Experience: Proven success in managing strategic bids, forecasting workloads, and prioritising tasks effectively.
Reporting Skills: Competence in producing detailed monthly reports and tracking opportunities through the business pipeline.
Strategic Alignment: Familiarity with business management systems and a commitment to continuous improvement methodologies.
